Owensboro Friends of Labor rally is set for Oct. 6
The Owensboro Area Building and Construction Trades Council and other regional labor organizations are hosting a Friends of Labor rally Oct. 6 from 5-7 p.m. at the Owensboro Convention Center, 501 W. 2nd St.
Former state auditor Adam Edelen will be the keynote speaker. Also attending with be state Reps. Jim Glenn, Dean Schamore, Tommy Thompson, David Watkins and Brent Yonts and House candidates Joy Gray and and Jim Townsend.
"As the affiliate crafts of the Owensboro Building and Construction Trades work to elect candidates who support our current prevailing wage law, oppose a 'right to work law,' uphold our current worker’s compensation law and support our working family issues, we personally invite you and your family to attend this important rally," said Todd Johnson, an event organizer. "Let us put faces to our organization."
Added Johnson, "With this event, let us show western Kentucky that members of organized labor are large in numbers, actively engaged in this community, contribute to this community and vote. Let us show our support for those candidates that support us."
At the conclusion of the rally, drawings will be held for several prizes. The Owensboro Balloon Twisters have been invited as entertainment for children.
