Nathan Gonzales, a top nonpartisan election analyst with Inside Elections, is shifting the Kentucky Governor’s race from “Lean Republican” to “Toss-Up.”

Inside Elections said in part: “On July 9, DGA-affiliated Bluegrass Values aired the first Democratic general election ad of the cycle. The ad highlights Beshear’s record as attorney general, including suing drug companies to combat the opioid crisis and taking on Bevin in support of Kentucky educators. Even after the GOP ad blitz, Bevin still has entrenched problems with his candidacy. Bevin has received some negative press in the last few months as well, including a public feud with Lt. Gov. Jenean Hampton, who he’s replacing on the 2019 ballot, and tension with the state’s teachers."

The Cook Political Report also rates the Kentucky Governor’s race as a “Toss-Up.”

Last week, Morning Consult revealed polling that shows Matt Bevin is once again the least popular governor in America.
