An associate professor of English at Murray State University, Walker aims to unseat incumbent First District Rep. James Comer, R-Tompkinsville.

The Rev. Jim Gearhart of Paducah wrote Sen. Mitch McConnell expressing his opposition to the GOP’s Robin-Hood-in-Reverse tax bill.

McConnell, who likes to portray himself as a “family values” guy, replied with a letter defending his vote for the legislation, which the senate majority leader claimed “will bring lasting relief to middle-class families, small businesses, and Kentucky workers.”

Union members helped swell the ranks in last year’s Murray March for Equality and Social Justice, one of an estimated 570 worldwide sister marches to the historic Women’s March on Washington.

Veterans of the Murray march are welcome to join a Women’s March anniversary celebration Sunday afternoon at the Cherry Civic Center in Paducah.
