Democratic legislators have proposed reinstating a worker safety standards board that Gov. Matt Bevin disbanded last year.

House Bill 322 would restore the OSHA Standards Board and require it to meet more frequently. House Minority Leader Rocky Adkins is spearheading the bill, which the rest of the house Democratic caucus is supporting as additional sponsors.

The Kentucky State AFL-CIO endorsed Darrell Pugh.

The move is likely to be seen as a dig at Gov. Matt Bevin, who broke a long-held tradition by declining to show Kentuckians his tax returns.

It was a fine day for a national emergency.

There was no sign of alarm as administration officials and journalists assembled Friday in the Rose Garden under a perfect blue sky amid unseasonable warmth. Nor was there any sense of crisis conveyed by President Trump, scheduled to fly to his Mar-a-Lago resort later Friday. The much-anticipated emergency declaration was to have been at 10 a.m. At 10:18, an official said Trump would talk in two minutes. At 10:39, Trump emerged.
