Trailing in the polls, Amy McGrath, Mitch McConnell's Democratic challenger, may have given herself a late boost by quickly jumping on the Senate majority leader for again elevating his party's wants above the country's needs. 

COVID-19 relief legislation has been sitting on McConnell’s desk for 165 days  

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Sen. Mitch McConnell yesterday adjourned the U.S. Senate until November 9 without taking action to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic and economic crisis or to provide relief to Kentucky families, small businesses, schools or hospitals. Last week, Kentucky reported the highest number of weekly COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began.

Democrat Amy McGrath made a closing pitch to a statewide TV audience Monday night at a forum that took place as her Republican opponent in Kentucky — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell — basked in the confirmation of another conservative to the Supreme Court.

While McGrath and Libertarian candidate Brad Barron took turns answering questions, McConnell finished shepherding through Amy Coney Barrett's confirmation to the nation's highest court.

If it is, it's a Devil Dog against a lapdog.

"Devil Dog" is a famous nickname for fighting Marines. It suits Democrat Amy McGrath, the first woman Marine to fly in a jet in combat.
