From Bill Londrigan:

Who: Sunergos Workers, Labor Family

What: Louisville’s Union Family rallies behind Sunergos workers who are fighting to win their first contract

When: Monday, November 20th at 1:00 PM

Where: SEIU 32BJ, 4100 Churchman Ave, Louisville, KY 40215

Workers at Sunergos Coffee shops in Louisville voted for union representation with the SEIU last January, and as is so often the case with recent organizing in the service industry, the employer Sunergos Coffee has refused to bargain in good faith.  With strong solidarity among the bargaining unit, there is a possibility the only recourse for these workers is to strike.  As the letter from Greater Louisville CLC President Todd Dunn indicates, these low wage workers would need assistance to survive and maintain their strike and are requesting support from organized labor to support this effort.  In order to notify the employer of the solidarity on the part of organized labor for these workers, a press conference has been scheduled for this coming Monday (apologies for the short notice) as indicated below.  So please join us on Monday.

In Solidarity, Bill.

From Todd Dunn:

Union Family,

Sunergos Coffee workers recently won their union in January of 2023 organizing with SEIU LOCAL 32BJ, and after nearly a year, the company has refused to bargain in good faith.

Many of these workers make only $8.25 an hour. These workers have unionized for a better life, including better wages and benefits. In order to help the company understand that it must bargain in good faith, these workers are preparing to strike.

Today, I am asking our affiliates to sponsor a worker for $600 a week in support of this strike. The holidays are a time of giving where we all come together to give back to our community and charitable organizations. This is your opportunity to help change the lives of these workers who are committed to doing whatever it takes to get what they deserve through a union contract. Together with your help, we can make that happen.

If your union is able to sponsor a striking union member, please reach out to Alexis Hardesty with SEIU 32BJ. Cell: 803-422-1790 Email: hardestya@ncfo.org

In solidarity,

Todd Dunn, president GLCLC
