FROM THE ALLIANCE FOR RETIRED AMERICANS

This week the House Republicans will vote on their so-called debt ceiling plan.

Basically, in exchange for not tanking our economy, they want President Biden to agree to SLASH important programs and services older Americans rely on.

We need you to DEMAND your Representative vote NO. Click to send them a direct message!

Here are just some of the damage their bill will do:

  • Cut 20% of the Social Security Administration’s budget. This will force local Social Security offices to close and lay off their staff – and seniors will have to wait even longer to get answers to questions about their earned benefits;
  • Cut food assistance for more than 1 million low-income seniors; and
  • Cut oversight of nursing homes, putting thousands of the most vulnerable seniors at risk of living in dangerous and unsanitary conditions.

This is reckless and irresponsible.

Tell Congress to do its job and pass a CLEAN debt ceiling now.

Sincerely,

Richard Fiesta
