DGA: New Ad Slams Daniel Cameron for Saying He’d Back Bevin’s War on Teachers and Threatening Public School Funding

Defending Bluegrass Values, a group backed by the DGA, launched a new TV ad titled “Absolutely,” slamming Daniel Cameron for saying he would have backed former Governor Matt Bevin’s “Sewer Bill” that dismantled pensions for hard-working Kentucky teachers. The ad also exposes Cameron for his support of an unconstitutional school voucher plan, which would strip money meant for public schools and give it to unaccountable private schools.
Cameron solidified his anti-education track record by selecting state Senator Robby Mills, one of the architects behind Bevin’s “Sewer Bill” that hurt Kentucky educators, as his running mate.
Cameron’s bad track record on education has forced him to go on a desperate apology tour, offering empty apologies to educators – which have fallen flat – on behalf of the Kentucky GOP after years of vilifying teachers and hurting public education across the commonwealth.
Earlier this week, the DGA launched a new video exposing Daniel Cameron for his damaging track record on public education.
“Kentucky families don’t want to go backwards with Daniel Cameron and his anti-public education running mate,” said DGA States Press Secretary Emma O’Brien. “Kentuckians value public education and educators, and won’t be tricked into supporting a candidate who wants to strip funding from public schools like Daniel Cameron, no matter how many empty apologies he offers.”

NARRATOR: When Daniel Cameron says he “absolutely” supports bringing back Matt Bevin’s ruthless Medicaid plan, Cameron threatens to take away coverage from over 95,000 Kentuckians and punish working parents.
DEBATE MODERATOR: “This sounds very similar to something that Governor Matt Bevin tried.”
DANIEL CAMERON: “Well, absolutely.”
NARRATOR: But when Cameron said he’d back Bevin’s war on teachers and take taxpayer money from public schools to give to private schools instead, he’d punish Kentucky’s kids.
Cameron’s absolutely wrong for Kentucky.
