FRANKFORT, Ky.  – As he heads into his re-election, Andy Beshear is again the most popular Democratic governor in the country, one of the 10 most popular governors, and Kentuckians approve of his job performance almost two to one.

Sixty percent of Kentuckians approve of Gov. Beshear’s job performance, according to Morning Consult, with the Governor leading Kentucky through three trying years of deadly storms and a pandemic and into the greatest economic growth in Kentucky history. Gov. Beshear’s approval rating has been steady at 60 percent despite non-stop attacks from partisan Republicans in Frankfort.

“Public sentiment in Kentucky about Gov. Andy Beshear remains overwhelmingly positive as the Democrat prepares to defend his seat this year, placing him again among the nation’s 10 most popular governors, according to Morning Consult Political Intelligence tracking surveys,” according to the Thursday article.

This follows the Cook Political Report rating the race “Lean D” and Gov. Beshear’s campaign reporting historic fundraising going into re-election.

“Kentuckians know Andy Beshear. They know he has stood with them through some of our toughest days and they know as the best jobs governor in our history he’s building a better commonwealth with more opportunities for our families in every corner of Kentucky,” said Kentucky Democratic Party Chair Colmon Elridge. “Despite what we know will be an unprecedented and extreme negative campaign against the historic and transformative achievements of the last three years, Gov. Beshear has the support, record and resources to win in November.”

Almost half of Republicans, 46 percent, give Gov. Beshear a “thumbs up to his handling of the job.”

Gov. Beshear, during his three years in office, has led Kentucky through the two best years of consecutive job growth in Kentucky history, stood with Kentuckians as they recover from historic storms, announced historic investments in infrastructure, and led the state to record-high budget surpluses and the longest period of the lowest unemployment rate in Kentucky history.

Gov. Beshear, in a sign of broad support, has raised more than $5.2 million since announcing his run for a second term, setting the fundraising record for a sitting governor going into their reelection.
