Frankfort, Ky. -- U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell has delivered roughly 10 percent of the funds needed to update voting machines and provide vital security upgrades for the 2020 elections, according to Kentucky Board of Elections Executive Director Jared Dearing.
Kentucky received only $6 million from Congress in Moscow Mitch’s poor attempt to deflect from questions about why he was blocking election security bills in the U.S. Senate, a significant underfunding compared to the needs.
According to the Courier-Journal:
“Dearing noted in the committee meeting that despite the new federal funding, counties would need another $60-80 million to completely upgrade their outdated voting machines.”
The news comes on the heels of Dearing saying foreign actors like Russia are looking to exploit the state’s election security system and roughly a week after McConnell’s latest block of election security legislation.
