From the KDP: Top Questions about “Team Mitch Teens” and Fancy Farm Controversy

Frankfort, KY— On Monday, Mitch McConnell’s Senate campaign and the Republican Party of Kentucky came under fire for promoting imagery depicting the death of his political opponents and for an image of young men in Team Mitch attire choking and kissing a cardboard cutout of Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Here are the questions that remain unanswered by Team Mitch and the Republican Party of Kentucky:

QUESTION #1: Did the Republican Party of Kentucky create the Team Mitch “Graveyard” display depicting the death of McConnell’s political opponents?

Here’s what we know so far: Team Mitch says the display was set up “by supporters.” However, multiple times throughout the day Republican Party of Kentucky staffers and volunteers were seen tending to the display and attempting to place their cardboard cutout of Donald Trump as part of the display. The Republican Party of Kentucky has not yet denied responsibility.

QUESTION #2: Who directed the teens to engage in political stunts throughout the day?

Here’s what we know so far: Team Mitch and the Republican Party of Kentucky have refused to acknowledge their responsibility for these boys, and are instead attempting to blame the media for drawing attention to a group of teenage boys who were placed on the national political stage at their direction.

Throughout the Fancy Farm picnic, these boys were involved in coordinated and orchestrated political stunts. Photos and videos of them were posted to public social media sites and blasted out to the public by the Republican Party of Kentucky and Team Mitch.

These boys were paraded in front of state-wide and national press carrying cardboard cutout heads of Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh.

They were so prominently featured by Team Mitch and the Republican Party of Kentucky that members of the press commented on them regularly through the day on social media.

Neither Team Mitch nor the Republican Party of Kentucky have explained who was responsible for coordinating this team of boys and their political stunts throughout the day. 

QUESTION #3: Where did the boys get the cardboard cutout of AOC that belongs to the Republican Party of Kentucky?

Here’s what we know so far: The cardboard cutout of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was created and is owned by the Republican Party of Kentucky. The cardboard cutout has been featured at multiple political stunts orchestrated by the party. Who gave it to the Team Mitch Teens?

QUESTION #4: How did the Team Mitch Teens get to Fancy Farm?

Here’s what we know so far: The boys are reportedly from the Lexington area which is more than 4 hours away from Fancy Farm. The Fayette County Republican Party organized a bus trip to Fancy Farm, and the man who posted at least one of the photos, Bill Marshall, appears to be associated with the county party. The Fayette County Republican Party Instagram account has a photo of supporters wearing Team Mitch shirts and standing of a bus similar to the bus that appears on the photo of the boys posing with the cardboard cutout.
