From the Louisville Courier-Journal: Gov. Andy Beshear emphasizes Kentucky's return to civility in inauguration speech

FRANKFORT — Gov. Andy Beshear's inauguration speech Tuesday appealed to Kentuckians' better sides and was a rebuke of the confrontational leadership style of former Gov. Matt Bevin, who sat feet away.

The Bluegrass State is going through one of its most divisive periods, he said, but the 2019 election has given citizens an opportunity to change the tone.

"Today gives us a chance to get this right," Beshear told those assembled on the Capitol steps in Frankfort. "To be a lighthouse in the storm, to be a beacon in the night. Today is a day to celebrate our history. ... It is also a time to recommit to being a commonwealth for the common good."
