  • Earlier this week, we made history as a labor movement: the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and its 2 million members officially joined the AFL-CIO, bringing us to nearly 15 million workers unified in our federation.
  • I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunities this will open up for us across our organizing, field work, advocacy and so much more—and the message it sends to the world that labor is united in this moment.
  • And that’s only one piece of what has been an incredible start to 2025.
  • In Las Vegas, union members and leaders just wrapped up the sixth annual Labor Innovation & Technology (LIT) Summit at CES 2025. We heard from experts and seasoned activists about how to use collective bargaining, legislative advocacy and community engagement to ensure technological innovation never comes at the cost of worker rights. With the expanding presence of tech giants in the halls of our government on every level, these conversations will be critical for keeping checks on their influence.
  • Over in Austin, Texas, the 2025 AFL-CIO Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Civil and Human Rights Conference kicked off on Thursday with renewed energy to embody Dr. King’s enduring vision for economic equity and racial justice. With another Trump administration rapidly approaching, attendees from around the United States are using this gathering to prepare their unions for large-scale fights that lie ahead of us.
  • We know that greedy CEOs and far-right extremist politicians are in lockstep with one another in pursuit of their anti-worker agenda—our movement can’t afford to be stratified.
  • Labor is on the rise and the past few days have been evidence of this growing power in our communities, our legislatures and our country writ large. To truly transform the economy and create a new era of worker rights, it’s going to take all of us fighting together. Are you in?
