Frankfort, KY— The following is a statement from Marisa McNee, Spokesperson for the Kentucky Democratic Party regarding the KyCIR investigation “Demand Letter Shows Rep. Hoover’s Accuser Alleged Groping, Coercion From Start Of Scandal”

“The report detailing GOP House Leadership’s knowledge of the alleged assaults from day one is shocking. This was a cover-up plain and simple. The question is how deep it goes within Republican leadership and how long they’re willing to continue the facade.

“It’s time for Speaker David Osborne to level with the public and answer the question directly: Was he aware of the alleged assaults and verbal abuse involving Representatives Jeff Hoover and Michael Meredith?

“As of today, Rep. Meredith still retains his position as a Committee Chairman despite credible allegations that he verbally abused and sexually harassed a young LRC staffer. Speaker Osborne is 100% responsible for allowing Rep. Meredith to continue to hold that position.

“At this point, it’s clear that the alleged assaults and abuse were known to many people including GOP Leadership, high-ranking staff at the Legislative Research Commission, and other Legislators. Anyone who was aware of these allegations and participated in the cover-up should resign immediately.”
