From Forward Kentucky: Bevin makes anti-vaxxing news; KDP responds
Governor Matt Bevin made international news yesterday when he shared in a radio interview that he had bypassed having his children vaccinated for chicken pox, and instead had intentionally gotten them infected with the disease by visiting a neighbor who was sick and contagious.
In an interview with WKCT, Bevin noted that his children were sick for a few days, and were “fine” afterward. He also commented on requiring children to be vaccinated, as quoted in this story from the Courier-Journal:
“And I think, why are we forcing kids to get it? If you are worried about your child getting chickenpox or whatever else, vaccinate your child. … But for some people, and for some parents, for some reason they choose otherwise. This is America. The federal government should not be forcing this upon people. They just shouldn’t.”
