From the KDP: ICYMI: McConnell Departs Washington D.C. to attend Cocktail Party during COVID-19 pandemic
By KENNY COLSTONKentucky Democratic Party Frankfort, KY — U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, the top ranked Republican in Congress, has reportedly left Washington D.C. in the middle of negotiations on how Congress should respond to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
The reason? He wants to attend a party for a judge the American Bar Association called “not qualified. According to the Louisville Courier-Journal “U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh is visiting Louisville Friday to speak at a special event for U.S. District Judge Justin Walker,” and Senator McConnell is also scheduled to speak at the event.
“It’s stunning that while schools are closing and there are major disruptions to everyday life, Mitch McConnell is flying home to attend a cocktail party,” Marisa McNee, spokesperson for the Kentucky Democratic Party, said. “What our country needs right now is leadership. Senator McConnell should be in D.C. working to bridge whatever gaps there are to get a robust public health and economic response to COVID-19 passed quickly.”
