Beshear Campaign: Cameron Campaign Mocks Teacher Raises
Do they not think teachers should be fairly compensated?
Frankfort, Ky. - Yesterday, when asked about Governor Andy Beshear’s education plan, Daniel Cameron’s campaign mocked the idea of an 11% raise for teachers and support staff—calling it “laughable.” Kentucky currently ranks 44th nationally in average teacher starting pay and 40th in average teacher pay.
“Daniel Cameron’s campaign should know better than to mock something as important as fairly compensating our hardworking teachers and support staff,” said Kentucky Democratic Party spokesperson Anna Breedlove. “For the good of Kentucky’s public school system and our children, we need to be able to recruit and retain the best teachers, and ensuring they are fairly compensated for their hard work is an essential part of that. Maybe on his next apology tour, Cameron will tell teachers they don’t deserve that kind of a pay raise.”
