Attorney General Andy Beshear is responding to the front-page news in the Lexington Herald-Leader that the Bevin Administration is trying to take away money from Harlan County public schools to refund Revelation Energy -- which owns Blackjewel. In particular, Revelation owes delinquent taxes and the Blackjewel coal miners have still not been paid.

Andy Beshear said: "Taking money away from rural public schools and handing it over to a company that won’t even pay its workers is beyond the pale. Governor Bevin needs to stop this immediately. Harlan has suffered enough from the negligence of his administration." Yesterday, State Representative Angie Hatton also said: “I’m calling for Governor Bevin’s Department of Revenue to stop trying to strip money away from Harlan County public schools until Revelation Energy pays our community and coal miners what we are owed.”
