A quartet of union-endorsed Democrats, including gubernatorial hopeful Andy Beshear, is expected to break bread with Jackson Purchase-area Democrats on June 14 at the annual Murray-Calloway County Jefferson-Jackson Dinner, which is set for Murray State University's Curris Center.
Beshear, the outgoing attorney general, is challenging GOP Gov. Matt Bevin in the Nov. 5 election. Also expected are Heather French Henry, who is running for secretary of state, Sheri Donohue, candidate for auditor; and Michael Bowman, who is his party's candidate for treasurer.
"We have invited the entire Democratic ticket – and believe that most of them will be in attendance," said David Ramey, Calloway Democratic chair. "This is the first big event after the primary."
The event starts with a 6 p.m. social hour followed by dinner at 7. All four candidates will speak to the crowd.
The social hour will include a silent auction with a wide variety of items. Tickets are $35 per person if paid by June 10 ($40 each if paid after June 10). For those wishing to sponsor a table, the cost is $25. Table sponsors and donors to the silent auction will be recognized.
Tickets may be purchased online at https://thecampaignhq.com/purchase-area-dinner/ During normal business hours, tickets also may be purchased at Ramey Insurance on the corner of 4th and Main Sts. in Murray. In addition, dinner-goers may mail reservations and checks to Kathy Jo Stubblefield, 3100 Scott Fitts Rd., Murray, KY 42071. (Tickets can be picked up at the door on June 14.)
The Kentucky State AFL-CIO unanimously endorsed the whole Democratic ticket. Besides Beshear and his running mate Jacqueline Coleman, Donahue and Bowman, they are Greg Stumbo, candidate for attorney general, and Robert Haley Conway, who wants to be commissioner of agriculture.
