HB 2, a Republican-backed measure to gut the state workers' compensation program, is headed to a floor vote in the GOP-majority state House of Representatives.

The Kentucky State AFL-CIO says the battle against the bill isn't over.

The labor federation is urging union members to call their legislators and urge them to oppose the bill that would slash medical benefits for injured workers. Don't know your House member? Click here.

The GOP-heavy House Economic Development and Workforce Investment Committee approved HB 2 on a straight party vote Thursday.

Fifteen Republicans approved the bill and one passed. Seven Democrats voted no; two others were not present. The panel has 25 members.

The House approved a similar bill last year but it died in the Senate.

The GOP holds a 62-36 edge in the House--2 open seats held by Republicans will be filled in special elections Tuesday.  The Republicans enjoy a 27-11 Senate majority.
