After years of attacks from Matt Bevin and the GOP, Kentucky’s families and teachers know better

KENTUCKY DEMOCRATIC PARTY

Frankfort, Ky. - Despite his campaign’s attempts to spin their way out of an increasingly desperate situation, time and time again Daniel Cameron has shown that he has an anti-public school agenda:

  • Cameron supports a plan that would have poured millions of taxpayer dollars meant for public schools into unaccountable private schools–a plan that would exacerbate the teacher shortage.
  • Cameron also backed Matt Bevin’s unconstitutional “sewer bill,” going so far as to select Robby Mills as a running mate who not only voted for, but helped lead the way on Bevin’s plan to strip pensions from teachers.
  • Cameron’s hand-picked running mate Mills even voted to give himself and his fellow legislators a raise, but not teachers, and carried a bill this year that makes it harder for teachers to negotiate for better working conditions.

“Daniel Cameron already had a terrible record on public education even before he selected a running mate that helped lead the charge on Matt Bevin’s unconstitutional ‘sewer bill’ and voted to give himself a raise instead of our teachers,” said Kentucky Democratic Party spokesperson Anna Breedlove. “Between trying to divert public school dollars to unaccountable private schools and backing a plan to cut teacher pensions, the Cameron-Mills ticket would be a disaster for our kids and Kentucky’s public education system.”
