Daniel Cameron—Lots of Noise, No Substance

MEMO
After a rough performance at last week’s debate, Daniel Cameron doubled down last night on more tired, partisan talking points. Last week, Cameron went a full hour where he didn’t mention the word “jobs” a single time–instead saying Joe Biden’s name a full 16 times. Last night, “Cameron mentioned the president four times” during just his opening alone. Clearly, Cameron’s afraid to compete on the issues that Kentuckians care about most.

Cameron once again made it obvious that he would be a disaster for Kentucky’s public school system. His education agenda doesn’t contain raises for our veteran teachers, funnels taxpayer dollars to unaccountable private schools, and breaks the promise of pensions for hardworking educators.

Yet again, Cameron tried to pass the buck on crime. Given that the “attorney general is the top cop and the top prosecutor in the Commonwealth,” public safety should be his job — making it all the more galling that Cameron refuses to take any responsibility for crime and wants to move Kentucky state troopers out of our rural areas when they’re desperately needed to keep those communities safe.

And Cameron doubled down on his “long-running support” for Kentucky’s extreme and dangerous abortion ban with no exceptions for rape, incest, or non-viable pregnancies. Under Cameron’s extreme ban, rapists have more rights than their victims.

As if Kentuckians needed any more proof, last night made it clear that Daniel Cameron can’t deliver anything more than tired, empty talking points. When up against a governor like Andy Beshear with a strong record of delivering for Kentuckians, he only knows how to run against someone–not for something.
