This Labor Day, I want to pay tribute to the labor movement and honor the hardworking people of our Commonwealth.
Not so long ago, many working Americans did not enjoy the rights and freedoms we have today. The 40-hour work week, minimum wage, child labor laws, and many other policies are in place because of the advocacy and dedication of unions and the labor movement.
I'm grateful for how far we've come, thanks to the efforts of the workers who came before us. I also recognize how much work there is still to be done.
Today – and every day – I stand in solidarity with the labor movement, unions, and every Kentuckian who wakes up each morning, goes to work, and puts food on the table. I will always stand with Kentucky workers and fight for their rights.
