Happy Women's History Month! In March, we join millions around the world in celebrating the remarkable achievements of women and renewing our commitment to the fight for equality.

As the highest female officeholder in the commonwealth, I am keenly aware that I stand on the shoulders of strong, resilient Kentucky women whose trailblazing efforts have broken barriers and paved the way for progress. From Loretta Lynn’s music to Nettie Depp’s reforms to Senator Georgia Davis Powers’ advocacy to the countless names who were never credited, Kentucky has a legacy of brilliant, unstoppable women. To honor them is to continue knocking down barriers, excelling in our fields, and advocating for the issues that affect us.

But we cannot ignore Kentucky Republicans’ efforts to restrict our rights and opportunities time and time again. Their attacks on our rights, healthcare access, and equal pay are unacceptable. As Democrats, we will not stand idly by while Kentucky women and our rights are under attack.

Throughout Women's History Month, I invite you to join me in uplifting the stories of Kentucky women who inspire us and remind us of our resilience. Together, let’s honor the legacy of those who came before us and keep working to ensure that every little girl grows up with the freedom to reach her fullest potential.

Sincerely,

Jacqueline Coleman

Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky
