Today is Labor Day, and for many of us, this weekend will be a time to enjoy friendship, family, beer, and BBQ.

However, it’s also important that we remember Labor Day is a celebration of the blood and sweat shed by men and women across this country, who fought for fair working conditions, fair wages, and fair treatment.

So while enjoying that hot dog or that union-made beer, I’ll also be reminded that it was a collective effort of working people around this country who came together to say: We will be treated fairly for the work we do.

I hope you have a happy, healthy, and safe Labor Day and, if you know a union worker or local union organization, make sure to thank them for the important work that they do.
