In last night's debate with Amy McGrath, Mitch McConnell evidently forgot that ancient admonition about stone throwers who dwell in glass houses.

“I think her entire campaign is: She’s a Marine, she’s a mom and I’ve been there too long," he scoffed.

It wouldn't surprise us to see "Marine" and "mom" woven into the next round of McGrath campaign ads.

With us, McConnell's slam rang an old and faraway bell about the senator's early exit from the Army. So we surfed the net and found a Huffington Post article headlined, "What is Mitch McConnell hiding?" It was written in 2008 and updated going on three years ago.

"Whispers about Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) military service during the Vietnam War have been floating around Washington for years and were reported in print at least as far back as two campaigns ago," Michael Rogers wrote.

Since McConnell made an issue of McGrath's service -- she's a retired lieutenant colonel and the first woman Marine to fly in a jet in combat--we hope some enterprising reporter will do some digging into his.
