The Kentucky Democratic Party is criticizing Governor Matt Bevin forspending today in Texas to raise money from wealthy donors who want to cut health care for Kentuckians.

In particular, one of the donors who Matt Bevin is reportedly meeting in Dallas today, Doug Deason, specifically said he will not give money to Republican politicians unless they work to repeal the Affordable Care Act, according to previous reports. Doing so would slash protections for people with pre-existing health conditions and take away Medicaid coverage from hundreds of thousands of Kentuckians.

Bevin’s harmful health care agenda includes removing protections for people with pre-existing health conditions and taking Medicaid away from 100,000 Kentuckians, along with cutting dental and vision coverage for half a million Kentuckians.

“Matt Bevin helps his wealthy out-of-state donors at the expense of health care for families in Kentucky because he’s a weak governor who will do anything to prop up his desperate campaign. That’s wrong - and exactly why he needs to go,” said Kentucky Democratic Party Spokesperson Marisa McNee.
