EDITOR'S NOTE: Guthrie, a Republican who represents the Second District, is among the most anti-labor members of Congress. He voted the union position on issues just 10 percent of the time in 2023 and only 12 percent since he's been in Congress.

Frankfort, Ky.—Today, Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Communications Director Jonathan Levin released the following statement after Brett Guthrie was selected as Chairman of the U.S. House Energy & Commerce Committee.

“Despite having served in Congress for over a decade, Brett Guthrie has little to show when it comes to making life better for his own constituents. He voted against lowering the cost of insulin for seniors and supported gutting Medicare with a privatized voucher system. While he criticized student loan debt relief, he stayed silent when his $4.3 million in federal PPP loans were forgiven by Kentucky taxpayers.

“Although Guthrie may have a new title, Kentuckians can only expect to see more of his out-of-touch agenda at work.”
