KDP: ICYMI: 4 GOP Senators Positive for COVID in 24 Hours; Mitch Refuses to Say if He Has Been Tested

Frankfort, KY -- In the midst of 4 members of his caucus testing positive in 24 hours, Mitch McConnell is wandering around Kentucky holding press conferences refusing to tell anyone whether he has been tested.

As reported by the Louisville Courier-Journal: 

“Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in Georgetown refused to tell reporters if he has recently been tested for COVID-19, following Friday's bombshell announcements that President Donald Trump and U.S. Sen. Mike Lee have both tested positive.

"Have I ever been tested? Yes," said McConnell after repeated attempts at the question. "But I'm not going to answer questions about when."

McConnell made his remarks at the Georgetown Community Hospital on Friday afternoon…”

“U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refused to answer Friday whether he has been tested for COVID-19 in the past week after news broke that President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump tested positive for the virus.

“Have I ever been tested? Yes,” McConnell said. “I’m not going to answer questions about when. We are following the guidelines that we’ve been given by the CDC.”

McConnell was speaking at a news conference at Georgetown Community Hospital, a stop on his tour of the state touting the federal coronavirus relief package that helped bring money to local hospitals.”

In a statement, Kentucky Democratic Party spokesperson Marisa McNee said McConnell is putting people at risk by refusing to implement a testing plan for the Senate.

“With four members of his own caucus testing positive in the last 24 hours, it isn’t really believable for Mitch to continue to claim he has not been exposed to the virus,” said Marisa McNee, spokesperson for the Kentucky Democratic Party. “And it’s deeply irresponsible for him to allow the Senate to return to business as usual without implementing a testing and tracing program for the Senate.”
