KDP Statement on Lt. Col. Amy McGrath’s Decisive Victory in U.S. Senate Debate

The following is a statement from Ben Self, Chair of the Kentucky Democratic Party:

“Tonight, Amy McGrath showed that she has the passion and the poise to be the next U.S. Senator for Kentucky. While McGrath laid out detailed plans for tackling COVID-19 and other important issues, Senator McConnell laughed. When it came to rebuilding Eastern Kentucky, McConnell deferred to Amy for a solution. When offered a chance to make his case for re-election, McConnell touted his own power instead of his desire to take care of our Commonwealth and its people. Kentuckians should vote for real leadership and vote for Amy McGrath.”

KDP Statement on McConnell Insulting Kentucky Moms and Marines

The following is a statement from Marisa McNee, spokesperson for the Kentucky Democratic Party:

"Mitch McConnell's behavior tonight was unacceptable, and he owes every military service member and mother in the Commonwealth and the country an apology. I suppose when you spend more than three decades looking down on other people from Washington DC it might seem normal to so casually dismiss military service and motherhood. It's disgusting, and another perfect example of why Kentuckians should send McConnell packing in November. Gross."
