Kentucky Democratic Party: Standing strong for Kentucky’s workers on Labor Day

Happy Labor Day! Today, we honor everyone who gets up every day to support their families and make our communities thrive. And we recognize the contributions of organized labor – unions that fight for better pay and working conditions and make life better for workers and their families.

As we take time to reflect and celebrate, we can’t ignore the political choices that are impacting workers here in Kentucky.

Over and over, Daniel Cameron and Robby Mills have shown their total disregard for Kentucky’s working families:

  • Cameron backed Matt Bevin’s pension-slashing “Sewer Bill” and Mills led the charge to resurrect it after it was struck down.
  • Mills self-servingly voted to give himself a raise but refused to do the same for Kentucky’s teachers and school staff.
  • Cameron and Mills stand behind legislation to undermine unions, cut black lung health benefits, and strip workers of their collective bargaining rights.

Meanwhile, labor unions across the commonwealth are endorsing Governor Beshear and our entire Democratic slate of statewide candidates because they know we will always go to bat for working families.

This Labor Day, we affirm that Kentucky deserves leaders who will fight every day for our workers – not self-serving politicians who want to pull the rug out from under them.

As we enjoy this day of recognition, let’s commit to supporting candidates who champion the working people who make our commonwealth great.

With gratitude,

Sebastian Kitchen
