The November 8th general election is a little more than a month away, but the time to make a plan to vote is now. Since voting in Kentucky looks slightly different this year, we hosted a presentation with the League of Women Voters of Kentucky on October 3rd to review the new changes in effect. In case you missed this event, you can watch the recording HERE.

We want every eligible person in the state to vote, so the outline below highlights the critical upcoming deadlines related to the election.

Last Day to Register to Vote:

  • October 11th at 4 pm local time.

Absentee Voting by Mail:

  • Ballots must be requested no later than 11:59 pm local time on October 25, 2022.

  • Ballots must be received by November 8, 2022 no later than 6 pm local time.

  • Drop boxes are available in each county to hand deliver your ballot. You can find your drop box location here.

Excused In-Person Absentee Voting:

  • Eligible excuses for the 6 days of excused in-person absentee voting can be found here.

Early Voting:

  • There are three days of in-person early voting that require no excuse on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, November 3rd - 6th, prior to the election.

  • The hours for the three days of early voting depend on your county.

Election Day:

  • The 2022 General Election is Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

  • Polls open at 6 am and close at 6 pm.

  • Remember: If you are in line and the polls close, you can still cast your ballot.

  • Precinct voting locations might be different from the last time you voted.

  • You can find early voting locations and November 8th polling locations by county here.

Identification:

  • Effective July 15, 2020, all voters in Kentucky are required to present a photo ID to cast their ballot in any election.

  • Further information regarding valid forms of ID may be found here.
