Cameron piles on lies in desperate attempt to save failing campaign

LEXINGTON, KY, October 24, 2019— In a desperate attempt to save a failing campaign, Daniel Cameron’s campaign piles on more lies and false personal attacks. In a newly released ad on behalf of Cameron, gross lies and personal attacks take center stage. “Cameron has no experience and no qualifications so he has nothing else to turn to,” said Meredith Scalos, campaign spokesperson. “It’s a classic page out of the McConnell playbook, who has been a primary fundraiser and advisor for Cameron’s campaign – lie as much as possible to win an election. It’s shocking that someone running to be Attorney General of this state would continually lie to the public to score political points.”

Cameron’s ads have been all negative for weeks now, showing a distinct disregard for the office and drawing attention from conservative commentators as well. Earlier in the week, Al Cross said that Cameron’s ads were “a classic use of scare tactics to mislead voters.” This should be concerning to Kentuckians who have a choice between an experienced prosecutor and a Washington DC insider lobbyist who has never tried a case in his life.

Governor Matt Bevin has done a lot of flying on state-owned planes – 112 trips in 2016 and 2017 alone, in fact.

We now know, from reporting that his office tried to block, that Bevin used his position to rack up nearly $700 thousand in taxpayer funded travel — more than twice the previous governor.

You know what he was doing on all of those trips? Me neither. And that's what worries me.

Were some of those trips on state business? Of course. Were some of those trips for political purposes, to campaign or raise money? At first, we just didn't know. Now, in spite of his office's obstruction, we know he was using taxpayer-funded travel to go to "at least" 15 fundraisers. That Bevin won't come clean is deeply troubling.

This is just the latest example of Matt Bevin's belief that he shouldn't have to answer for anything or to anyone. That's not very neighborly, and certainly not the Kentucky I know and love.

As Kentucky's next attorney general, I won't hesitate to hold anyone accountable, no matter how powerful they think they are, no matter what. That's why I'm running, and why the special interests are so spooked by our grassroots campaign.

We've got just 13 days until the election. Chip in $16 now to make sure we finish strong!

We've seen it from Bevin, from Mitch McConnell, from Purdue Pharma: powerful groups and people, abusing their authority and flush with money, are all-too-eager to trample on the state of Kentucky and subvert our democracy for personal gain.

My opponent fits right in with that crowd, but not me. I'm out to do the people's business and be a dedicated public servant. That's it.

That's why I'm counting on your support. Donate today and let's do this.
