From The Huffington Post: Joe Scarbrough sends withering warning to Donald Trump's defenders

“We’re not going to divert our eyes,” said the co-host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

By LEE MORAN

Joe Scarborough has warned defenders of President Donald Trump who are wringing their hands over the way some media outlets and pundits covered special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation that “we’re not going to divert our eyes.”

The co-host of “Morning Joe” on Tuesday rhetorically asked what the critics of speculation about possible Trump campaign-Russia collusion would have “had the media do over the past two years” when lies about Russian connections were “tumbling out” of the mouths of Trump and his aides.

He continued: “You know the answer. And just because you’re sucking up to Donald Trump and just because power is all that matters to you and just because you will justify everything that man does and just because you are corrupt, just because you’re not a journalist, just because you have sold your soul to a personality cult, don’t knock reporters at The New York Times or The Washington Post or The Wall Street Journal or the broadcast networks for doing their job right.”

From The Huffington Post: Elizabeth Warren Explains Why Voters Aren’t Asking Her About The Mueller Report

The Democratic presidential hopeful acknowledged the report is “important” but said people are more focused on “what’s happening in their lives.”

By LEE MORAN

The conclusion of special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation may have sent Washington and the media into a frenzy.

But Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) revealed on Monday’s broadcast of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” that it appeared to be of minor concern to the hundred-or-so voters she received questions from while campaigning in New Hampshire at the weekend.

“Do you know the number (of questions) that were about the Mueller report? Zero,” said Warren. “Because what people are talking about, what they’re asking about, are the things that touch their lives every day.”

From Daily Kos: Mitch McConnell is helping Russia help Trump, again

By JOAN McCARTER

Is there a more noxious and dangerous person in government than Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell? He's at least on a par with Donald Trump, if not worse. Because if McConnell had even a shred of principle, he could be the check the nation needs to survive this kakistocracy. He's poison, and he's poisoning the nation.

Here he is on Attorney General William Barr's version of what's in the Mueller report: "The Attorney General reports Russia carried out online disinformation campaigns and computer hacking efforts designed to sow discord in our nation and interfere in politics. It's deeply disturbing that the Obama Administration was apparently insufficiently prepared to anticipate and counter Russian threats."

Got that? The Obama administration wasn't prepared to counter Russia, he said. Like this was all a great revelation to him. Flash back to the fall of 2016 and McConnell single-handedly blocking the Obama administration from telling the country that Russia was interfering in the election and that they were doing it to help Trump. This is what he, in essence, told the CIA: "You're telling us that Russia is trying to help elect Trump. If you try to come forward with this, I'm not going to sign onto any sort of public statement that would condemn Russian interference. But I will condemn you and the Obama administration for trying to mess up this election."

From The Huffington Post: Mueller report 'does not exonerate him,' but Trump follows the plan: Declare victory and attack

By LAURA CLAWSON

UDonald Trump planned all along to use anything short of an indictment from special counsel Robert Mueller as a chance to declare victory and attack Democrats. And guess what? Trump is using not just the absence of an indictment, but Attorney General William Barr’s sketchy and slanted summary of Mueller’s report to … declare victory and attack Democrats.

What a surprise.

When Trump allies claim that Trump was exonerated, they are in direct conflict with one of the most important things Barr’s letter quoted from Mueller: that “while this report does not conclude the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.”
