Our Steelworker siblings who work in nursing homes need your voice

Our union has been sounding the call for safe staffing in health care for years, and now we have the chance to use our collective voices to make real, positive change.

Recently, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a proposed rule that would update Medicare payment policies and rates for skilled nursing facilities to be a more patient-centered model.

You might be asking yourself what this has to do with you or the USW...

Did you know our union represents more than 50,000 health care workers? Thousands of them work in long-term care facilities like nursing homes.

For the next few weeks, we will be collecting stories from not just our health care workers, but any member of our USW family who has been impacted by short staffing or staff turnover in a long-term care facility.

TELL US YOUR STORY

We will use your stories to compile a formal submission to the CMS as they work to establish minimum staffing requirements that nursing homes will need to meet to ensure all residents are provided safe, high-quality care, and our Steelworker brothers and sisters have the support they need.

Please, take this opportunity to share your personal story and to support our USW siblings working in nursing homes.

In Solidarity,

Tom Conway
USW International President
