The Philadelphia Tribune: Labor and elected leaders rally in Northeast Philly for Harris and Shapiro

Elected officials from across the city joined Ryan Boyer and Building and Construction Trades Council leaders Friday to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris and energize union members behind the presumptive Democratic nominee’s run for president.

Joining the Democrats from city and state government, along with hundreds of union members was Gov. Josh Shapiro, one of the front-runners to run with Harris for vice president on the ticket.

While others advocated for Shapiro as the vice presidential nominee, he did not directly ask to be the nominee. Shapiro did spend his time thanking the Biden-Harris administration for their support of organized labor and protecting workers, including the 7,000 apprentices that have graduated from the training location that hosted the rally. He cited Harris has been a friend of his for 20 years and called her a “fearless leader.”
