Politico: Unions start to coalesce around Harris

Union leaders are scrambling to assemble their key decision-makers to formally back the vice president.

Top labor unions have begun to rally behind Vice President Kamala Harris in the hours since she took the baton from President Joe Biden as the likely Democratic standard-bearer for the upcoming election.

By Sunday night, leaders of both the Service Employees International Union and the American Federation of Teachers had moved to formally endorse Harris, in addition to their preexisting support for her as part of Biden’s ticket.

“The most important thing for working people is to unite behind Vice President Harris,” SEIU's April Verrett told POLITICO. "You can’t say President Joe Biden is the most pro-union president in history without talking about Kamala Harris and her role as well.”
