Richmond Register: United Campus Workers holds rally at EKU

Megaphones and protest signs in hand, staff, faculty, and student workers assembled in Eastern Kentucky University’s (EKU) Powell Plaza on Tuesday to kick off the United Campus Workers (UCW) of EKU’s 2023 campaign.

While braving cold temperatures, union members voiced their opposition to hiring freezes at EKU as well as demanding further support for the university’s workforce.

In addition to Tuesday’s rally, the union also released a new petition which calls for cost of living adjustments, an end to a hiring freeze, a $15 minimum wage across campus (including student workers) and improved facilities.
