After voting on the coronavirus bill today, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders expects to fly home with his wife, Jane, and "begin holding conversations with supporters to get input and assess the path forward for our campaign," according to a campaign email sent to supporters this morning.

Sanders lost primaries in Florida, Illinois and Arizona last night to Vice President Joe Biden, who has taken a near insurmountable lead in the delegate race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

The email said that "while our campaign has won the battle of ideas, we are losing the battle over electability to Joe Biden."

The email added that supporters "can expect him to continue his fight to ensure we are protecting working people, low-income people, and the most vulnerable communities, not just giant corporations and Wall Street in any response to the virus."

In addition, the email conceded, "No sugarcoating it, last night did not go the way we wanted."

Sanders and Biden enjoy labor support. While the AFL-CIO has not endorsed anybody for president, some national and international unions, union locals and individual union members are behind Sanders and Biden.
