Teamsters Local 783 President John Stovall to Run for House District 37
Louisville, KY – Teamsters Local 783 President John Stovall filed today to run for the Kentucky House of Representatives in the 37th district.
A former Army reservist, John Stovall worked for the Jefferson County School Board for nearly thirty years until he joined the Teamsters and represented JCPS employees. He served as Vice President of Local 783 before being elected President in 2014. John has fought for working families for decades and is running to be a voice for middle class Kentuckians in Frankfort.
“I’ve spent decades looking out for Kentuckians who get up every day and work hard to provide for their families and give their kids a better life,” said John Stovall. “It is clear to me that now more than ever we need more leaders in Frankfort who will fight like hell for working people. I’ll work with Governor Beshear to continue growing our booming economy and create good-paying family-supporting jobs while expanding access to quality affordable healthcare and protecting workers’ pensions. People who know me know that I’ll always do what’s right and I’ll work with—or stand up to—anybody to improve the lives of middle class Kentuckians.”
District 37 falls largely within Jefferson County and is currently represented by Rep. Emily Callaway. Governor Beshear won the district by nearly 20 points in 2023 and this seat is a prime pick-up opportunity for Democrats.
