We just got this text message from Tim Morris, GLCLC executive director:
"The Bon Air Starbucks had a contested union election but the union announced Victory tonight after a retally.
"This makes 3 unionized Starbucks in the Greater Louisville KY area."
"1.Veterans Pkwy in Clarksville IN
2. Factory Lane in Louisville
3. Bon Air in Louisville."
Brother Morris also texted us a link to these tweets from Jacob Munoz, WFPL's business and development reporter:
"Update in Louisville labor:
"Following a contested election result and re-tally, organizing workers at the Bon Air Starbucks on Bardstown Rd have won their election 10-7, a Workers United rep tells me. They become the third Starbucks in the Louisville metro to unionize.
"Replying to @jmunoz1_
"This comes when Starbucks is seeking to individually negotiate contracts with its unionized stores. While the election process so far has been on the store-to-store level, the union rep says that the company is 'stalling' by not accepting workers’ wishes for national bargaining."
