The union flood relief caravan left Lexington-based Teamsters Local 651 this morning, bound for flood-ravaged eastern Kentucky.

Trucks were loaded with supplies including bottled water, Gatorade, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, paper towels, bleach, buckets, mops, push brooms, shovels, rakes, rubber gloves, soap, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hair brushes, diapers, baby formula, pet food and plastic totes.

"We are gratified at the outpouring of concern and action from our union family for all those who have suffered from the destructive flooding in east Kentucky," Londrigan said. "We are mindful of the thousands of union members and their families that have lost possessions, and we are especially sorry for those who have perished and the families they leave behind.”
