From WAVE-TV: Kentucky group rallies for Social Security Fairness Act

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Kentucky police officers, firefighters, and teachers rallied together Tuesday to raise their concerns over social security benefits they claim are being stolen.

The group, made up of people from the Kentucky Education Association, the Kentucky Professional Fire Fighters, and the Kentucky State Fraternal Order of Police, is asking Senator Mitch McConnell to support Senate Bill 597, known as the Social Security Fairness Act.

If passed, it would expand social security benefits to roughly 2.8 million retirees who also collect a pension from jobs not covered by the retirement program. That means state and federal workers like teachers, police officers and postal workers.
