Union organizations continue to help their western Kentucky brothers and sisters who remain in need after the deadly Dec. 10 tornado damaged or destroyed their homes.

Louisville-based CWA Local 3310 and IUE Local 83761 recently partnered with the Greater Louisville Central Labor Council and the Kentucky State AFL-CIO to send money and supplies--including heaters, tarps and blankets--to members of IUE-CWA local 83701 at the General Electric aviation plant in Madisonville, one of the communities hardest hit by the twister.

"Fifteen members lost everything in that shop," said Ashley Snider, IUE-CWA Campaign Lead

"The aid materials were paid for through the state AFL-CIO's Union Disaster Relief Fund," Snider said. "Also, two checks were presented to 83701. One was donated from IUE-CWA local 83761 and the second was from a fund created by the Commonwealth Alliance Donor Table, Hood to the Holler, Kentucky Civic Engagement Table, and Black Leadership Alliance Coalition of KY (B.L.A.C.K)."
