Frankfort, Ky. - Yesterday was Kentucky’s first day of legal sports betting, thanks to legislation signed by Gov. Beshear. In the Kentucky Senate, though, Daniel Cameron’s running mate Robby Mills opposed the bill, despite bipartisan support. The funds from sports betting are earmarked for pensions for police officers and teachers.

“It’s no surprise that Robby Mills opposed sports betting since the funds will be used to support teacher pensions,” said Kentucky Democratic Party spokesperson Anna Breedlove. “Robby Mills has been clear that he did not support this bipartisan legislation that brings tax dollars back to Kentucky to protect pensions for police and teachers. This is a common-sense, bipartisan issue and should not be another way that Mills attacks pensions, like the Matt Bevin ‘sewer bill’.”
