LOUISVILLE, Nov. 7, 2023 – The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Kentucky State Council of Machinists celebrates Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear's victory in the state’s 2023 gubernatorial race. Beshear, endorsed by the Kentucky State Council of Machinists, has secured a second term by defeating Republican Attorney General Daniel Cameron.

The IAM has a strong presence in the aerospace, manufacturing, railroad, and federal sectors throughout Kentucky, including Kentucky’s Blue Grass Station and Buffalo Trace Distillery.

Gov. Beshear's win is huge for IAM members in Kentucky, who have consistently supported his pro-worker policies. He has been an unwavering advocate for working families, tirelessly defending the rights of Kentucky's workers.

“We are thrilled to see Gov. Beshear's reelection, as it represents a significant victory for workers in Kentucky,” said IAM International President Robert Martinez Jr. “His commitment to fair wages, safe and secure worksites, and top-notch healthcare aligns with our mission to advance the interests of our members. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Gov. Beshear to ensure the well-being of Kentucky workers.”

Kentucky voters rejected Cameron’s track record of opposing workers' rights, weakening unions, and hindering workers' organizing efforts.

“This victory reaffirms that the working people of Kentucky recognize the importance of a strong advocate in their corner,” said IAM Southern Territory General Vice President Craig Martin. “Gov. Beshear has consistently shown his dedication to the welfare of Kentucky's workforce, and we are excited to work hand in hand with him to ensure our members are well-represented and well-supported.”

The IAM celebrates this victory as a testament to the power of working people coming together to support a leader who champions their interests.

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) is among the largest industrial trade unions in North America and represents nearly 600,000 active and retired members in the manufacturing, aerospace, defense, airlines, transportation, shipbuilding, woodworking, health care, and other industries.
