DANVILLE, Ky. — Even at 10 a.m., Gov. Andy Beshear packed the house last Wednesday at La Cosa Nostra, a Main Street eatery here, to make his thoroughly nonpartisan closing argument for reelection. Astonishingly, for a Democrat in a state Donald Trump carried by 26 percentage points in 2020, Beshear has become one of the most popular state chief executives in the nation.
