From the Daily Kos: Trump says the economy is booming, but economists predict a slowdown

Donald Trump insists that the economy is booming and will continue to boom because of him. As usual, you could have a spirited debate over whether Trump is intentionally lying or just ignorant, or you could just decide it doesn’t matter since the outcome is the same: Trump’s brags and promises are lies and hot air. In contrast with Trump’s puffery, business economists are predicting a slowdown.

A survey from the National Association for Business Economics predicts the U.S. economy will grow by 2.4 percent in 2019 and 2 percent in 2020. Meanwhile, the Trump administration is projecting 3 percent a year for six years.

The NABE economists say that Trump’s trade wars are one factor in the prediction of slowed growth. The good news, if they’re right, is that they’re still not predicting a recession.
