From the Lexington Herald-Leader: Updates: Kentucky lawmaker accused of strangulation allegedly tried to hog-tie victim
KDP calls on State Rep. Goforth to resign following arrest for domestic violence
Frankfort, KY— The Kentucky Democratic Party is calling on state representative Robert Goforth to resign following his arrest on domestic violence charges early Tuesday morning. Mr. Goforth was arrested on charges of “strangulation, assault and terroristic threatening, according to Sheriff John Root,” the Lexington Herald-Leader reported. The victim reported that there were three children in the home at the time of the assault.
This is not the first time Mr. Goforth has been accused of a violent assault. In January 2019 a woman publicly accused Goforth of multiple sexual assaults and violent behavior.
“State Representative Goforth must resign immediately,” said Kentucky Democratic Spokeswoman Marisa McNee. “This is not the first time a victim of Mr. Goforth’s violent assaults has come forward. Republican Leadership has ignored this for far too long, it is time for them to take action. Goforth needs to go.”
