ICYMI: McConnell’s Misinformation on Latest COVID-19 Relief Legislation

Frankfort, KY — As Congress is set to finally approve additional COVID-19 relief legislation, it’s clear that U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell plans to continue misinforming the public and taking credit for things he never did.
That’s a lie, and he knows it’s a lie. Here are the facts:
In July, Mitch said he wouldn’t pass any bill without liability protection for all of his major donors. So he didn’t pass a relief bill.
In August, Mitch once again stalled talks over a relief bill.
He stalled them in September, October and November for the same reasons. Even as recently as last week, Mitch was holding up further relief because his donors told him to.
In a statement, Kentucky Democratic Party spokesperson Marisa McNee said there’s one person to blame for Kentuckians struggling during this pandemic and that’s Mitch McConnell.
“For months, Democrats have been pushing to help Kentuckians and all Americans put food on the table through direct relief payments and enhanced unemployment benefits, and pushing to include direct relief for businesses most hurt by this pandemic. Mitch McConnell has been the sole obstacle to those efforts, and now he’s lying about it. It’s as pathetic as it is predictable.”
